Salaam, are there any other places to visit in China other than Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzen?
Any info on Tibet and Xinjiang? Or the Chinese area near Mongolia?
Guangzhou has some historic mosques and graves of sahaba karam RA, and for certain nationalities, up to 5 days visa free entry.
Xian (terracotta warriors and the great mosque). Guilin (bamboo rafting in karst landscapes). Chengdu (pandas).
Samarkand and Bukhara are quite historical places and tour guides do make it quite interesting with their stories.
We did the Tashkent and Samarkhand trip. We had tour guide in Tashkent through our booking which was helpful. In Samarkhand when we got down the train there were a lot of guides outside who were trying to sell their services. We chose a guy who charged us $45. He took us in his car and showed us all the places in Samarkhand. Started at 09:30 and he dropped us back at train station at 17:00. He wasn't actual tour guide as he didn't come inside the historic places.
Regarding China
- Is it better to rent a car and drive around or use public transport? Are there good intercity connection trains? How to book trains?
- is it advised to book through tour operators or independent self drive tour is possible covering main cities and then Xian, Guilin, Chengdu +/- Lhasa?
- How to book accommodations? Booking.com or any other apps?
- Suggested English to Chinese translator app?
- Any other tips?
Intercity bullet trains 🚆 are the Best. You can book online or go to the city station in the main city. Better book early to get a Seat.
The public transport system is better for moving around the City, but you should have an iPhone Maps or an Android Maps to understand the lines for your Destination.
A hotel can be booked through Booking .com
AliPay for all Payments
Didi Local Taxi
I had a plan to rent a car, but did not proceed.
