If you are doing tawaf on the first floor and use the ramp to come out on Ajyad Street, then these hotels are nearest, so work very well for elderly relatives.  They have escalators for the first two floors, so unlike clock tower hotels, you don't have to wait long for lifts.

This is about Royal Safwa Orchard on Ajyad street, the very first hotel on Ajyad street. This is actually a complex of 5 or 6 hotels on 2nd floor of the building adjacent to clock tower. They have both lift and escalators and i fund escalators to be very convenient as unlike Clock Tower hotels where you have to wait for lifts these escalators are always working. I stayed in Dar el Eeman which was pretty decent, but the best part was the short distance to Haram.
