What would be the best option to book hotels in Makkah - should I reserve via booking.com/Agoda or is it better to book directly with the hotel agents?

Direct Hotels will always have better rates if you have someone who can visit them directly. In my experience there seems to be an application charge when using apps.

I have used booking.com for Madinah and direct with Hyatt in Makkah for my forthcoming trip in February IA. Booking.com is a good portal to access apartments which you won't be able to find elsewhere.
